What is RPA?
RPA (Robotic Process Automation) is a software technology that allows us to create software bots that can learn and execute rule-based business processes, by emulating human actions interacting with digital systems and applications. Simply put, RPA bots can identify text or images on a screen, write text or send keystrokes, navigate to websites or local applications, move files, fill in forms, read and extract data from various sources and perform a wide range of pre-defined actions.
These bots can be deployed on a physical or virtual machine and operate around the clock, nonstop and much faster than people. Having said that, if built according to best practices, they can also provide businesses with 100% reliability, minimizing the possibility of human errors.
Ultimately, the main goal of RPA is to replace some of the most repetitive and boring manual tasks in the workplace, without the need of code development. That is why, many organizations are turning to RPA to streamline enterprise operations and reduce costs, keeping in mind that RPA can be coupled with machine-learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, in order to handle even more complex procedures, where judgement is also required as part of the task at hand.
